Esther Hopkin LCSW

Esther was born and raised in Utah and has lived all over the country. In 2014, she came to Alaska on vacation and moved here six weeks later. It was love at first sight.  In her spare time Esther loves spending time with family, traveling, and collecting friends and memories.

Both her undergraduate and graduate degrees are in Social Work and she has worked in the field for over 15 years.  She has experience as a crisis worker in a large emergency room where she saw patients in some of their darkest and lowest moments, often following attempts to take their own lives.  She has experience as a therapist in a residential treatment setting for adolescent males and as a therapist in an outpatient setting.  It was in the outpatient setting that she found her passion and where she saw the most growth, healing and change with her clients.  She loves working with people to help prevent the need for an emergency-room visit or residential treatment.

Her focus is on the therapeutic relationship, she uses that to enhance the skills that the clients already possess.  She offers hope with a kind and direct style to help clients reach their goals.  Esther is trained in and utilizes a variety of therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and others.  She works with clients ages 12 and up.
